Privacy notice

Version [version]. This notice explains what personal data Prof. Sherif El Hawary ("we") processes when you use this learning platform, why, and your choices. Controller: [legal name and address of the controller].

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email address, phone number (if given), preferred language, profile picture (if you upload one), password (stored only as a one-way hash).
  • Devices: for each device you register, a public key created by your browser, the browser and operating system family, a device name you choose, and IP addresses at registration and use. We use this to make sure your account is used only on your own devices.
  • Security records: sign-ins (successful and failed), sessions, password and two-factor changes, device events, with time, IP address and browser.
  • Learning: your enrolments, the lessons you open, video watch time, the PDF page you reached, quiz answers and scores, bookmarks and notes.
  • Payments: orders and their status. Card details are entered on our payment provider's pages and never reach us.

Watermarks

To discourage recording and sharing, videos and PDF pages shown to you carry a visible watermark with your email address, a short account id, your IP address and the date and time. A leaked copy can therefore be traced to the account it came from.

Why we use it (purposes and legal bases)

  • To provide the courses you enrolled in or bought (performing our contract with you).
  • To protect your account and our content: device binding, one stream at a time, watermarks, fraud and sharing detection (our legitimate interest, and our contract with you). A daily score computed from your security records flags unusual use, such as sign-ins from many networks, for our staff to review; it never restricts your account by itself.
  • To send you service emails and messages: sign-in and device codes, security alerts, receipts, announcements about your courses.
  • [Any other purpose, e.g. marketing only with your consent.]

Who else processes it

  • VdoCipher (video delivery and DRM), [payment provider, e.g. Paymob] (payments), [email provider] (email delivery), Meta (WhatsApp codes, only if you verified a phone number), [hosting provider] (servers).

[State where data is stored and any transfers outside Egypt, and the safeguards used.]

How long we keep it

  • Account and learning data: while your account exists, and [period] after it is closed.
  • Security records: about 13 months.
  • Backups: up to 14 days (longer for off-site copies, if enabled: [period]).
  • Payment records: as required by tax and accounting law: [period].

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to sign you in and keep you secure (session, CSRF protection, hardware-bound session, language). No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to some uses of it, by writing to karim@linktea.io. [Describe the rights under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020, how requests are answered and how to complain to the regulator.]

Changes
